I've installed XP many times on my SZ650 before and got the Fn keys to show up as the white little boxes indicating the level on both brightness and volume Fn keys. This time I can't figure out how to make the Fn volume keys show up as the little white boxes; it shows up as a green barred indicators.

Maybe you used different versions of Sony Utilities DLLs, Setup Utility Service, Vaio Event Service before? The on-screen graphics and control of Fn keys is hidden somewhere in those for your model.

If it's working at all then that's fine by me, since Sony don't support XP.
