I bought a PCMCIA card with 2 Firewire 800 slots and 1 Firewire 400 slot.
When my camera is attached , with the external power cable it powers up the camera, but the camera is not detected by the computer.
I managed to get the computer to recognize the camera ONCE after random reinstallations of the Sony drivers....I'm not sure how to recreate it.

I'm running Windows XP on my laptop

I'm not sure if it's a driver problem, but the PCMCIA controller lists as Generic Cardbus Controller.

I have no problems connecting the camera to my desktop and my Asus laptop which lists a Ricoh R/RL/somethingsomething as its PCMCIA controller

anyone with experience on this do help me, thanks

Do you have any other drivers for your PCMCIA card?

Have you tried to go to windows update to see if it detects updated drivers also?

unfortunately no driver is supplied for that card. It works on my other computers though, strangely! Seems like a Sony issue.
Do I need to override the pcmcia.sys driver by any chance?
Is there another driver I can try
