Hey all. Since this forum has been such a huge help with me finding the right computer, I just wanted to let you know that Amazon is selling the SZ670N/C for $1699 with free 2-day shipping, which you can imagine, is a complete steal.

    2Gig RAM
    T7700
    WWAN
    160 hybrid drive

    All for $1699...

Trying to get rid of stock before the SZ7 with Penryn is released. Why does it and the SZ660 cost less than the SZ650?

Wow, thanks for posting this. I was just about to buy the SZ from techonweb but it seems that Amazon is a better deal for the SZ670 or 660. techonweb had the SZ 650 for $1650, which is $100 cheaper than Amazon.

For $1700, a great deal. But for $170 less, or $1530, I can get the same machine but with a processor that only 0.2 ghz slower. Seems like the best value. Agree?

One question, I dont want the Sprint Broadband WAN simply because I know I'll never use it, is there a downside other than the antenna sticking out? Does it use more power? Can I remove the antenna?

I too would like to know why the SZ650 is not discounted as heavily. I would prefer this simply because its the only one without Sprint WAN.

Sorry, one last thing, I dont know much about Penryn, is it worth the wait for it? I'll google it.

I assume the 650 isn't discounted as much just because it might be their best seller.

Depends, you could wait for the SZ7 which might have no changes except for new processors, or you could by an SZ6 now and with a bios update, install a Penryn processor.

The SZ660 is on the way! Free 2 day shipping so I'll have it Friday. Thanks again OP for the tip. I was able to get a docking station for nearly free with the savings.

I thought that opening the computer to change the RAM or HHD voids the warranty.

I still think that amazon deal is better. For $30 more, you get 2 GB and the 160 GB Hybrid, which should have better resale than the 1GB and 120 GB HDD. Maybe I'm missing something, but man would it be nice to have 4 GB and a 200 GB 7200 rpm drive. Nice.

Changing the RAM won't void the warranty, but changing the hard drive may.

That is what I am running and it is very sweet. I have a desktop with a 24" ultra sharp Dell monitor and I never use it anymore because the processor is only single core. It was a nice system last month but my laptop is running very snappy :)
