Today I put 2 x 2gb module in my SZ680. The bios says 3072mb ram. This is true even for the last bios update. Has anyone been able to use 4GB ram in Sony SZ6 series. I know about windows 32 bit problem but the 3gb limit for viao sz is true even for 64 bit linux.

Update on 11/30/2007: A slight modification of my above post. 64 bit Linux actually recognizes 4GB ram (around 3.9 after PCI reserve). But the bios reports 3072. I was puzzled and got confused by error is BIOS reports. Go figure.

It sounds like Sony never implemented more than 3GB of addressing as most XP users would never have gotten it anyway. Lazy.
