    SZ680 problems ...

    .. I no longer get the little displays on the LCD when I try to adjust sound or brightness. In fact, the brightness adjustment no longer works at all.

    I tried looking on their drivers website for a specific program. The only thing related I found was, "notebook utilities" or something but that didn't fix it.

    Is this following sleep/hibernate? If so, this is a common problem on the SZ... and can be fixed with a BIOS update.

    they just updated the bios on the sony asia website - which works on all US models also (confirmed)

    It's like permanently disabled. Does not come back even with a restart.

    I can't find the BIOS update anywhere. Anyone have a link?

    Hmm.. that's odd. Did you install any programs recently that might've caused it? If it doesn't work at all, it may be an issue with the ACPI driver...

    Did you do a semi-clean/clean install? If so, I believe the program that controls the FN keys is the Vaio Event Service.

    Nevermind, the computer has a pretty neat built-in recovery thing. Got it reinstalled!

    Hmm mine still works and I did the semi clean install... I guess I better bookmark this though for when/if mine quits working.
