    Hi,

I am almost crying about my sony vaio SZ691N after installing windows 7. Most of the drivers from my previous OS (Vista Business) are not suitable with this new windows.

Has anyone got a solution for this? I want to find drivers for windows 7 x64 for my sony vaio SZ691N. probably other drivers for SZ series also compatible.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Leslieann,

Thanks. it is great. however, I got a problem with the sound card: High Definition audio controller is always disabled when I restart my laptop. Everytime, I need to go to Device Manager to enable it. Any chance this has a solution?

    Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you got far enough to be close to happy, congrats!

The one thing I have found consistently over the years in working with Windows is that it isn't consistent. You can install Windows 10 times in a row and at least one of them will be an oddball and have something that doesn't work right. Windows 7 is no different.

That is an odd problem, and truthfully I have no clue. If it was me, I would try reloading the sound driver, look for an update maybe. Windows Update isn't always up to date but does provide good basic functionality. Beyond that, I would reload again and just see if it duplicates. I have reloaded mine so many times that I don't even hesitate anymore. Not a smooth , perfect install, I start over.

I know people hate the idea of reloading and I hate telling others to do it over and over again, but honestly, just like rebooting, it really does fix a lot of problems. Sometimes it really is just easier.

    Hi Leslieann,

Yes, I am almost happy, only the sound card problem now... thanks a lot ;)

Yes, could you please tell me more details how to reload the sound driver? I tried to uninstall it and search automatically by windows and then the HD sound is found and installed correctly but then after restarting, it is disabled again. Windwos Update does not help me in this case.

Please help how to reload the sound driver.

    Thanks in advance.

Is the sound card still there and enabled itself in device manager?
If it is still enabled then it isn't so much a driver issue as a configuration issue. In my guide I describe how to fix the microphone, you may just need to do the same to the output.

You can also search for a driver by the device Id numbers.
Go into device manager, then the sound card, left click on the sound card and click properties. Go to the details tab and in the drop down, choose hardware ID's. Write down the part that says VEN____&DEV_____&SUBsys______.

Do a search on google for those numbers and "driver", possibly leave off the &subsys____. You might find something that will stick.
