*** SZ7 - Recovery Apps ***

There was a guide posed in this forum a few months back which showed how to extract all the apps included in the VAIO SZ recovery discs (UK version).

To save users the trouble of extracting the apps I've uploaded them to Rapidshare. These are ALL the apps untouched. Some are useful, some aren't. The attached image shows the included apps.

Wait is this the UK version? Or is there a US version out there too?

 

These are the apps which were installed on my UK model SZ7. Some of the apps are UK / Europe specific like the 3G WWAN util and drivers.

Btw, in your opinion, because I noticed Vista uses a lot of my ram. Should I install 3GB of RAM and just still with x86 or should I try to install a x64 bit Vista onto my laptop with 4GB of RAM

swatch83, I only have a the UK version which came with my laptop.

 

It's included in the Recovery DVD image, WWAN Connection Manager UK E 10.1.

If you haven't already downloaded the DVD and want just the software let me know and I'll upload it for you.

I've zipped up the last 3 files on the Recovery DVD and uploaded to RS. The file includes the WWAN Driver, WWAN Promotion and WWAN Connection Manager.

The Connection Manager is the T-Mobile software. The Promotion is a flash slideshow which shows the number you need to call to activate your included SIM etc. And the driver is included should you need it.

It worked OK for me, second time round. First time I had one of the files downloaded incompletely, so the ISO didn't extract.

I just downloaded all the files, then used 7z to 'extract' the very first file in the sequence. This extracted everything (all the files - the first file 'collected' the others) to one ISO image, and ImgBurn did the rest.

And thanks again to Mujja - I also didn't get a downgrade disc from Sony.

Now I just need to work out the best sequence for upgrading my hard drive, changing my OS, and getting all my files and programmes back onto my laptop.

 

Joby, you are talking about the SZ7 XP downgrade file right? These are the one's Anadi is having trouble with.

hello Mujja,

a little off topic but i hope you can help... i got my vaio laptop messed up a bit. my unit is an SZ750N. hdd partition was wiped out except for the recovery partition which is still intact. If i change active partition then it boots directly to the recovery tools but everytime i put factory default, i ended up with this comment:

"could not obtain the target drive letter"

i also tried using the DVD recovery of the XPProfessional given by sony but when i boot there it states CDBOOT: couldnt find CDBOOTMGR

hope i can still restore the vista business of this machine.

You don't have PM enabled. Give me an email address to send to.

The XP downgrade disc is for the SZ7 but it should work on the SZ6. I don't think there were any major differences in hardware.

 

I have found an image but it from TX3XP, and it is necessary to Sony SZ. Thank in advance
