I'm supposed to have G-Sensor hard drive protection, but I dont see any software or menus for it, not in the desktop tool bar or anything.

    How do I activate it?

I have a T42 which has similar protection. It needed a software called Tpshocks to be installed.

may be you haven't installed it yet.

In VAIO Control Center under the Security category do you have "Hard Disk Drive Protection Settings"?

Should be active. An easy test is to drop the laptop. JUST KIDDING. But you can hold it in your hands and quickly accelerate it downwards and you will see an icon in the system tray saying that HDD protection is on. Quite cool. Just don't drop it. :D

But his is a brand new SZ just out the box IIRC.

You haven't install Vista Ultimate already have you?

If you've made a copy of the Recovery discs, insert disc one and select the option to restore applications and drivers. Then choose the HDD protection thing.

Or if you still haven't deleted the reovery partition pres F10 during boot to access the same Recovery console. Will be quicker from the hard-disk than the DVD.

One of his last posts was about "messing with lappy" in relation to Vista Ultimate reformat... Just a thought.
