What resolution is the camera set to? It should be 320x240.

The SZ7 isn't available with XP is it?

I'd try looking for SZ3 camera utility, that came with XP, just hope that it will work.

Same problem here with my SZ680 - video is choppy no matter what resolution I choose (320x240, 160x120).

At the same time the video in the preview window is nice and smooth.

Is there any way to set 30 fps?

Numerous threads...no solution. It is the fps that needs to be changed but cant be. I mean Apple cant a notebook pretty and functional, what the heck is wrong with Sony.

I am having the same problem with my sz 691n/x. In both skype and the vaio camera capture utility (2.3) I get choppy video. For some reason the frame rate remains at 15 fps regardless of the settings I use in camera capture utility. This is supposed to be a really nice webcam, what is the problem?

I had the same problem on my SZ680. The videos were choppy and stuck 15fps.

If you use universal extractor and extract the sz7 Notebook Utilities and install the VCCU, it will fix both problem.

But the video will still be grainy. The MBP is so much better.

All of this is on Vista.

thats strange...i use a SZ780 (almost an identical machine, and definitely the identical cam), running XP Pro however. and the picture is great. however, when ur using it in very low light, the picture gets very grainy and the frame rate slows down a lot (to allow more light to enter the lens). but under normal lighting conditions, the cam works fine for me, pretty good quality. havent tried MBP though. u could try switching off the low light feature in ur webcam settings (on msn webcam settings or skype etc), and see. i must say, the motion eye cam performs great in low light with the function on, even though it reduces quality..coz its frame rate for me, is still great....compared to other cams ive used (mid range cams from genius and a built in HP cam), its way better....maybe its a vista prob?
