Okay, does anyone know how or when I can get my hands on one of these in Australia? It doesn't matter what the price is, but it must be new, and come with the Australian or International warranty.
I recently thought I had bought a legitimate one on eBay, but was scammed.... don't want to repeat that process again - reputable dealers only.
Thanks.

Authorised dealers are still the most trustable, in many cases.
The Sony Australian website does not show that model or maybe its not updated yet. In any case, no harm in locating authorised dealers in your country and enquire them, directly :

The problem with Sony Australia is that when you ask, they don't know when the model will be available. Or at least all the 5 or so times I've asked the so called "auhorised dealers" they don't know when the new one will be relseased. I think the majority of buyers do not know there are new models on the horizon, and Sony are trying to protect their sales.

The next best thing I can try to help is to provide you with Sony Asia Pacific contact below. Sony Asia Pacific is a level above Sony Australia.

Remember to stress to them that you already checked with Sony Australia, lest they refer you back to Sony Australia again; a waste of time.
Also ask Sony Asia Pacific to consult their Japan head-office if they also do not have news of that model.
Good luck...

From what I have read on this forum, Sony Australia updates its notebooks every quarter. So I guess March/April should be the next update, and thats when we should see the SZ6 (SZ7).

lth, an alternative would be to suggest you consider buying through PortableOne which is a reputable seller. It is not eBay.
I would use its service if I were ever to buy over the net.

Dont forget that if you do import a notebook from outside Australia, like from P1, you will need to pay:
10% Tax (GST) + 5% Custom Fees for items valued over $1000. I think if you declare it as a gift that is over $1000, the first $200 is Tax free. -
I ended up buying from P1. Hopiing this won't be another Colpic special. Even with customs, it works out cheaper, and I get my laptop (which I need) now, instead of 6 months time.
Thanks for all the advice. -
Do share with us all again when you get your dream machine. Till then, all the best.
