Hi Guys, I really love the TZ series for its portability and long battery life, but the current TZ3X series is based on the older 945 Napa platform.

The Napa standard has been in the market for about 2 years, so its not a good investment to jump into a TZ right now.

Would the updated TZ be coming soon? ie. based off a ULV Penryn 45mm process processor with GMA X4500, or at the very least, a Santa Rosa platform with a ULV Monroe processor

The other Vaio models are already out with the Montevina(aka. Centrino 2) platform

Yea I think I heard someone mentioning that Sony will update the rest of their lineup later this year (probably in November).

    Can anyone confirm this?

Montevina SFF (small form factor) including ULV processors for the TZ and similar laptops are coming in September at the earliest, so thats the earliest we can expect to hear announcements. The previous Vaio TR, T and TX were also announced around in September of 03, 04 and 05 respectively.

The TZ was announced a month after the Core 2 Duo ULV processors were released. So I'll say late September/October.

    That is excellent!

With GMA X4500, which is about 3-4 times faster than the GMA950, coupled with a more powerful processor, with smarter power saving features, the TZ will be a real powerful mobile computer(compared to the current one which ain't too shabby already), and last even longer as well

santa rosa is a power hungry and hot chipset, so it clearly doesnt suit the TZ. thats a couple reasons why Sony didnt use it...

I was thinking sony was trying to maximise the utility of the 950 moldsets for the TZ instead
