Ok i have my dad has a sony vaio and about a month ago the screen just went black. we just now decided to fix it and so i thought it may have been the monitor so i bought a new monitor and it ended up not fixing it. but when u boot it up all u can see is sony vaio but it is very faint and u can hardly see it and u cant see anything after that. so idk wat could be wrong so if someone could help me i would greatly appreciate it thanks.

Try the backlight inverter board. Sounds like the one in your Z is bad and your backlight isn't functioning right.
