I bought a Sony Vaio S13 which I received two days ago. Everything's been set up and updated however, I am experiencing a small issue with the display. I have disabled automatic screen brightness in the control center. Yet what is happening is that during use, the screen appears to fluctuate in brightness under stable lighting conditions which makes no sense given that the automatic screen brightness setting is disabled in the control center. Does anyone have any idea as to what might be going on here or may I have received a defective unit? It's bothersome to have the display do this.

In addition to this, the touchpad has stopped responding once and has also gotten stuck in right-click only mode another time. These small little quirks are scaring me, but otherwise I'm happy with the laptop.

There are other auto-adjustment settings in the Intel graphics options. That's what is causing that darkening and washing-out of the screen.

I don't know about the touchpad, never had that issue. Do you have the most recent driver?

I will check there as well, thank you. And yes, I have but it's only happened twice so maybe they've just been fluke bugs.

Run through each item and uncheck anything with says "automatic adjustment"... I forget where they are exactly but one says "auto contrast", the other is "auto picture mode" or something to that effect. I just set everything to "off".
