    Hi Guys

I have a sony vaio laptop and after some time that i switch it on, a thin white flashing bar approx 5mm thick and the whole width of the screen appears just above the task bar. It flashes on for a split of a second at approx 5 sec intervals. Can someone tell me if this is a hardware problem. By the way this pattern also happens when the unit is in Bios.

    Thanks

If it happens to you in BIOS as well then it is definitely not a driver problem. I would say that it was a hardware problem, but if it was it would not be consistent like that.

I would have to say it might have to do with the connection to your LCD screen. Check the connections to your LCD and even try a monitor or other external display to check it out more. I'm putting my bets on the LCD screen or its connection.
