I just got the VAIO SZ330P/B. The screen display doesn't look very sharp and crisp. ( As It looks normally with Glossy Screens). Is this normal ? I have seen some SZ330s in Retail stores and they all look sharp, bright nice crsip.Do I need any driver/software update or some thing is really wrong?

    Thanks Everyone

You might be having problems with the graininess issue.
This issue can be resolved by upgrading to the lastest drivers plus flushing to the lastest BIOS (you can get the latter from Sony's support webpage)

I updated the BIOS. What driver I need to update? Just with BIOS update I didn't see any improvements.

    Thanks

you might have 1024x768 on your screen currently, change it to 1280x800, you will get a nice sharp image.

is there a clock phase option in the nvidia control panel? if yes , try that one. also, try both video card, the gma950 and geforce go 7400 see if they get same results.

I didn't see any thing like clock phase option in the nvidia control panel. I tried both the options from the Display Drop-down from DISPLAY PROPERTIES and still same dull screen.

I have the same issue with brand new SZ330. I couldn't find any resolution anywhere. I called Sony VAIO support and that too was no good as they offered me to sent the Laptop to their Depot for Repair or I pay $149.00 for onsite technician visit..ohh well . Such a brand name and what a horrible experience.

I ended up returning it to store.

my sz170p/c screen is very sharp and bright. when i color corrected with spyder two, it was actually very close to acurate. editing photos on mine for professional use is very good (abiet a bit small).

Anyone with any advise why my VAIO SZ330's screen is grainy? Is it normal or bad hardware?

Also, make sure your refresh rate is 60hz, have you tried switching the video card into Intel? Is it still grainy? If so my best guess its bad hardware.
