I have had the screen switched 1 time when I got the laptop and it did ship to get fixed for another time but they refused to change the screen again back then (backlight bleed issue)

Back then I noticed some very small dents etc on the screen hinges but didn't care that much, however I remember that the bottom part of the screen wasn't as tightly fit as the rest.

Ok so fast forward 3 years to now. Every time I visit a website with bright colors(mainly alot of white) I get white banding, "pinstripes" on exactly the left part of the screen. It's disturbing but you can use that side of the screen.
However if I very lightly apply pressure to the screens bottom "frame" the banding disappears which leads me to believe that this is somekinda connectivity issue. I've had the laptop for 3 years and 3 months now and I contacted sony about 3 years and 1 month into my guarantee period and they denied all responsibility (I had originally 1 year + purchased extra 2).

Fwiw I've had this problem with the screen for about 6 months and it has gradually worsened. I did not know how to make the issue stand out (it was random in the beginning) and didn't contact sony back then but as I learned how to produce the problem I went straight to Sony.

Has anyone experienced this problem? Or just happens to know a quick fix?

Also a second thing about my SZ. Every now and the I get this _really_ high pitch noise from, prolly, the harddrive. Does this indicate that it is failing soon or could it be the fan?

I would suggest that you dismantle your laptop and pry open the display to ensure that all the connections are as they should be. You're right it does sound like that could be one possiblity.

Does this happen in stamina mode?

Ok I'll try to find a thread or guide about tearing open a SZ

And yeah, exactly same problem in stamina mode. Might be a tad bit less banding in stamina but I cant say for sure. Seems about even between the 2.
