I'm doing this on an SR-190 fyi.

Can we get a better explaination on how the recovery center works? Im done with the semi-clean install... but need to get the drivers and programs for some things. I start the Recovery center. Here are the tabs i'm given: Windows System Restore / VAIO Hardware Diagnostics / Restore C: Drive / Restore Complete System / Rescue Data / Wipe and Erase Data

I dont see where I can download some programs and drivers that I need without going back to a restore point and starting all over again with bloatware. I need my webcam drivers... among other things.

No... i dont think I copied over the full folder with the launcher, unfortunately. I misunderstood the directions. However i found it on my recovery disk and transfered THAT over... and i can start 'recovery.exe.' I dont know where i am without the launcher.exe, but i can get recovery.exe to work.

So when downloading those drivers, a lot of the times it asks me to retry, because it may have not installed correctly. Which i think might be the case. Cause installed the fingerprint driver, but it still wont recognize when i swipe my finger. And still asks me to connect or enable the biometric device.

Everything else seems to work fine now though... my webcam, wifi... etc. I just don't get why some of those drivers are sayin i may have installed them incorrectly. I chose vista home premium...

ok so this is kind of frustrating. it says i have the driver installed... i even uninstalled then reinstalled it... but the biometric finger device still wont recognize ANYTHING when i swipe it. when i try to set up the protector suite, it says i need to enable it or connect it. im really confused.

    Help anyone?!
