Hey guys,
You may remember me from my SSD poll a couple of weeks ago. I'm a prospective Z buyer with a lot of concerns going in (for the money, can you blame me?).
This may have been asked before in the past, but I've run up against a bit of dilemma. I am seriously considering the purchase of a Z in the future for personal/business use, but I am somewhat hesitant thanks to Sony's reportedly terrible warranty support.
Granted, I am a technician of many years, but when you spend $2-3K on a notebook (and especially one as proprietary and complex as a Z), you don't really want to have to break into it and start fixing things. Should I have any sort of issue, no matter how seemingly small (such as the reported screen/palmrest issues), I want to be able to expect a resolution relatively quickly. Meaning, at least within a week. I simply can't go for much longer without my primary machine (and it will be).
Some here have told stories of waiting for weeks on end, sometimes months, and still not hearing from the Sony tech. Even if prices were to drop today around 20%-25% on an i7/512 GB CTO (where I think it probably needs to be for me to pull the trigger), I still would probably not commit to a purchase thanks to this concern. I'd honestly just like some feedback from people who have dealt with Sony support in the past about how quickly/satisfactorily their issues were resolved.
Thanks to everyone, as always, for your help!

support sucks. I've only picked up Z because of the awesome deal I got on it.

I'm also in the same boat.. are there any success stories out there, or is Sony support only helpful if you shell out the extra money for the ADH?

You guys know that you can call Sony support right? im just saying you can do your part of bugging them if it takes too long. Sure it's not great but the laptop is! Never had anything like it (and I've had a fair few)

Is the ADH support considerably better or something?
