This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Ok..it's a fact about the bloatware on the Sony laptops and the need to do a clean install of Vista or Xp for those interested in a more efficient OS. I think there is a need for those who cannot, for whatever reason, tackle this process ..a service for a fee to do the job. Where would an appropriate place be to offer this service? I don't know if this forum is that place ...so please join in with any suggestions ...thanks.....Allandpm

    My advice would be to SERIOUSLY consider any option other than paying a business to do it for you (other than a friend). Not only will you pay a ridiculous amount of money, you will be opening up a huge can of worms if you ask for XP. A clean install sounds difficult if you're not good with computers, but it is really simple, and made even simpler with all the step by step guides that exist.
