My girlfriend has a Sony Vaio with the HD screen resolution. After a system update this has reset to VGA. In the windows screen resolution setup it does not display the for 1929 x 1080. Last time this happened I know it was possible to set it correctly (I think) in the Vaio Gate dock. Can anyone advise?

standart VGA controller means that there is no video drivers. reinstall drivers. If it is Nvidia and if she will download drivers WHQL from Nvidia site - then she should check box "clean install" (not recommended install). It will be much better.
