Hi everyone,
I have an S series and when I press the silver VAIO button it mutes the sound.
I haven't found where to change the function of this button.
I've only removed the following Sony apps:
media gallery
pmb 5 and pmb plugins (click2disk/image optimizer/movie story)
vaio content metadata intelligent analyzing manager
vaio transfer support
Unfortunately I can't remember the default function of this button. Perhaps it was the media gallery? I'd like to change it anyhow.
Thanks for any help.

Normally you can set the special buttons in Vaio Control Center.
-
The only option under VAIO Control Centre > Special buttons
is Document Zoom
>Enable the document zoom blah blah
There's nothing related to setting key functions...weird -

The support site has this notebook utilities bundle containing the setting utility series.
Problem is that I've updated the power management and it seems that this bundle would install an older power management program. Would that work? -
Figured out why the button mutes now, since i removed the media gallery
"The VAIO button launches the VAIO® Media Gallery software which allows you to browse and enjoy your digital photos, videos and music. "
But shouldn't I still be able to customize the button or maybe not? -

This thread has links to all the separate installers for the utilities. The vaio model shouldn't matter, but whether or not the utilities are the most recent, I do not know. They should still work fine.
Setting special button function? (Vaio Button)
