I just bought my CS but still have 14 days to decide whether to buy the 3 year warranty. The warranty is like 230 bucks for 3 years. The laptop only cost me 850. I know Sonys are reliable but what does everyone think? I'd like not to just to save money, but an on the fence about whether I should do it. Thanks.

waste of money IMO. you are essentially getting two year's extra warranty at that price (First year is covered by manufacturer).

If you bought it with Amex, it would've extended your warranty by another year (two year total).

good read, but I actually had a different experience. The ONE TIME I had a faulty laptop (a compaq mind you), I had returned it on the very last day of my 3 year warranty and was able to use a credit in the amount of the original laptop ($1800) to purchase a new one. $1800 3 years ago from that point for a laptop at that time was actually a nice deal and this compaq R3360 was high-end for the time period over 4 years ago.

Still, I'm on the fence. I have no idea in reality how reliable these Sony's are.
