    Studio 1558:
    Core i5-520M
    4GB RAM DDR3
    500GB HD 7200RPM
    ATI HD5470
    730€

    Sony Vaio EB1S8E
    Core i5-520M
    4GB RAM DDR3
    500GB HD 5400RPM
    ATI HD5650
    750€

Looking for reliability, never bought my own laptop before.

VAIO E Series has some problems:

    bad screen quality
    terribly bad speakers
    really short battery time

extremely annoying high pitch sound that can't be fixed
(most laptops have it, but some don't)

I know the graphics card is much better in the vaio, but I'm not a serious gamer, just casual and don't need top quality.

Computer studies student, almost finishing my studies, so I want this laptop for software
developing, virtualization, etc, and I'd want it to last for 4-5 years.

Important it is to say that I'll be moving it around almost everyday, so I'd appreciate low weight, but I need to stick to a 15.6" (studio 14" is not offered in my country); and I need it to be resistant to the transport.

    Thank you

Firstly notebook speakers are always going to bad. Just look at the size of them!

I don't think you will find the screen in the Dell to be any better and the battery too won't be that much different. At that price point, with high speced notebooks, something will have to be low quality and its the screen and battery life.

And I know what you mean by the high pitch noise. My FZ makes one and I swear it is damaging my hearing.

I do wonder with your requirements, moving around most of the day, if you are perhaps better suited with a Lenovo thinkpad or Asus UL series. I have heard people talk up the Acer timeline series as well. I don't what UK pricing is like being on the other side of the world but are you up for considering other brands?

I mean that I want it to support the transportation in its bag without problems. want it to be "resistant"

I don't really need really great battery life, but have seen reviews and dell 1558 is arround 2h50 (wlan) and sony vaio barely reaches 1h30

I'd rather stick with a core i5-520 than with a low end processor with more battery life

For reliability and resistant in transport you shoud look at some business models, such as Vostros from Dell, or probooks from HP, thinkpads from Lenovo etc.
