Last night I struck my Z's keyboard in frustration :( I hit it with just my fingers by the "Q" and it dented the keyboard a little. When I turned the computer back on the fan starts to speed up to full speed and windows starts but then it just cuts power and turns the Z off. I took the keyboard off and pushed it back into shape. The fan is right below where I hit and I made sure that it's not rubbing. I tried turning the computer on without the keyboard but it does the same thing, fan speeds up to full speed and the computer shuts down. I went ahead and ordered a new fan but I'm not sure if that will work or if I will be able to replace it on my own.

It seems like the computer is powering off like it's overheating. Any thoughts? And yes I feel sick that I broke my $5000 laptop :( and no I normally don't have a problem with rage..

Update: I sent my laptop off to a service center and to fix the problem requires replacing the motherboard for $599 :(

I guess it is just the heatsink that lost contact to the CPU or got bent. If I were you I would get the laptop back and fix it myself, needs pretty much all of the Z's guts disassembled tho. Motherboard replacement rather sounds to me as a rip-off.
