I own a SZ 483N/C. I have the lowest CPU footprint in terms of running applications, and the cpu is set to adaptive.

I can not get rid of the fan noise, which my temp is around 50 celsius on stamina.

Please help me on how to solve the issue. I am able to mod my laptop physically. Arctic? A new fan?

If your cpu is at 50, then no you won't have your fan go off.

The only way to make your fan go off is to lower the cpu temperature enough so that the computer goes ahead and turns off the fan. There are specific temps at which the fan is turned off. You can undervolt and use AS5 to help lower the temps and try to reach the temp threshold where the fan will go off. Also, ambient temperatures have a big say in cpu temps. If it's hot where you live, then it's gonna be tough to cool ur cpu enough for the fan to go off completely.

But that is not really a solution tho, because once the fan is off, the cpu will heat up very quickly, even at idle. So the most you will have w/o the fan on is like 20 seconds, then it will go right back on. If you really dislike the fan noise, then you should either turn up the music or get another computer. There is nothing really you can do to completely shut the fan off and have a cool system.

yeah, I have the same problem, the fan noises are just so annoying... I paid 2k+ for this machine, at least SONY could design a better cooling system...

This is my third Vaio. The first was a FS, which was incredible. The second one was an S, and this recent one is SZ.

I think just for this fan noise, I am going to get rid of it.

my fan was quiet for the longest time until the first time I shot some air in there to clean out the dust. Ever since then it does nothing but rattle. The only solution now for me is to disassemble this thing and remove the fan to clean it.

Having a fan problem too now it seems, with my SZ680. It ran almost completely silent for months, now since a few weeks its making more and more noise and its really audible quite loudly. The battery life has more than halfed too, I used to be able to type in word for almost 5 hours in stamina mode, now only 2hours or even less. And its not like the drop was gradual either. It was 5 hours one week, and then 2 hours the next. Any ideas what this could be and how to solve the problem?
