I need to do a clean install on my FS620 that didn't come with a XP home disc, the computer is driving me nuts with not remembering settings. I've tried to troubleshoot this issue for over a month and I believe it's one of the Sony softwares that is disfunctional. How can I install my licensed copy of XP without installing the Sony bloat..

    Thanks
    S.D.

is there a windows xp home proof of authenticity sticker on the bottom of the laptop? if there is you can use any xp home disc to load on your laptop and you just input that key.

Microsoft should validate it for you as long as you have valid license which you should. You'll probably have to call them.

Thanks, I thought that may have worked. So I guess I need to download a illegal cd and then use a valid key and that would be legal??

    Thanks

you will prolly want to get a hold a true xp home disc. it would be better that way. Just ask your friends if they have one.

Check the post made by stausi

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=23073&page=3

I think each serial only works for a certain amount of xp's, that means if you borrow a xp home from a friend it may or may not accept the serial number on the bottom of the machine. Doing it stausi's way will ensure that it works.

    Gluck

If activating over the net doesn't work just call microsoft to activate it and they will. Its not like you are using the same key on a different machine.
