I'm trying to install the audio driver for the Vaio SZ but it keeps coming up with an error saying:

Exiterror:error=device object not present, restart the system and run setup again.

I've restarted many times and done a clean install of XP a number of times already. What is going on? Please help!

Does the SZ use Sigmatel? I thought the SZ used Soundmax as their sound card.

Sony use Sigmatel here in Asia Pacific. I have solved the problem. I needed to install a patch for the computer to recognize the audio hardware then be able to install the drivers.

Jamste, I got the same problem. I downgrade from Vista to XP. What is the patch that you mention? Where can I download it? Thanks

Update your XP with windowsupdate. I have to install the patch HD sothat it can separate the modem and the sound card in the HD bus.
The hotfix KB888111 is what you need.
