Hi all, I have the Sony Vaio SVS151290X laptop. I also own the port replicator (the accesory that converts the laptop into a desktop). The Vaio laptop has a single LAN network adapter card (Realtek) and a single LAN port, but the port replicator has 2 LAN network ports. What is the use of the 2nd network port in the port replicator? Thanks.

Since there is an additional network card on the dock, and the port on laptop will be blocked when docked, so internal network card will be redirected to dock.
You now have different network cards with 2 ports. If you're u want to use them as a switch, just bridge them together.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. So you mean that with the dock I will have 2 network cards (the laptop's card+the dock's card)?. If so, shouldn't Device Manager in Windows show 2 network cards instead of just one? I only see one network card in Device Manager when the laptop is docked.
