Ever since Vista SP2, I have been experiencing issues with my Z690 Vaio. Wih hibernate, the laptop just restarts when I try to resume and gives the improper shutdown error. With sleep, sometimes the laptop refuses to start or gives the BSOD. Sony support, as usual has been lackluster. Any help will be appreciated.

hi i had the same problem using Kaspersky internet security 09, after desactivated bsod stopped. I change for Eset and the hibernate resume error stopped. What is the error on the bsod, it can be hardware issue too.
One problem after, my Z oftern resumed from sleep sometimes when sleep in bag the laptop resume... i update the lastest bios and now the issue is gone...
Now on SP2, the boot and hibernate is more accuate but since i update bios if i close the lid when process hibernate (like i use to do before) the Z stopped but give me error because that stopped the hibernate process. -
Generally an anti virus would not affect sleep - make sure you use the latest build too.
If you have a problem with sleep/hibernate it is most likely a driver problem.
Tedious - but you may want to check your event logs. -
in vaio z topic u can find people who have the same problem on Z and change for another antivirus solved the bsod. same for me and bios update R3054M3
