Does anyone know if there is a smaller than standard battery for Sony SZ series? I don't need the standard 5 hours battery and I would like to save some weight.

There's one that is flush with the bottom of the notebook.

Is it the standard battery that you have - where there is a semi cylinder of cells protruding slighly form the underside?

I have the slim battery. I like it because mainly my tz is plugged in.

    Hey y'all,

I don't think it's just the US which don't have this battery listed as an option on the TZ, I can't find it via Sony's official links anywhere in the world. This makes me suspicious; why would Sony "hide" VGP-BPS11 when this is the only one that preserves the smooth lines of a notebook model that has obvisouly taken a lot of planning to produce.

Heightened risk of RSI through not raising the rear of the notebook? Unrealistic (real world) performance times when using this slimline battery? Competition with another upcoming Vaio model?

To be honest, I don't know and I don't care. I purchased my TZ in San Francisco on a business trip around this time last year, and got a spare standard battery and leather case to boot. I'm now looking around for a slimline battery, having established that I'm really not more than 3 hours away from a power socket at any given time but can't stand the awkward lump on the bottom of my $3000 notebook. (premium carbon, SSD, etc)

OK, time for the question. I've found a source for VGP-BPS11 on eBay, and have verfified that the Chinese seller is OK by speaking to a previous customer of theirs in Germany. Before I spend $145 on VGP-BPS11, can somebody tell me what the expected runtime is with this part? I mainly do web surfing and a little email / document editing, nothing too strenuous.

Many thanks in advance for your reply, this is appreciated.

    Mup.
