Hey everyone,
Just as the thread states, I am wondering what is the smallest sony laptop that can be hooked up to a dell 2405fpw as an external monitor (preferably via dvi) and run it at 1920x1200 (full resolution)
thanks
i have this monitor and i really want a sony vaio but i feel like the monitor will be guiding my decision.
now if there is a competitor's laptop that is smaller and can run the monitor, that might be an option as well
thanks for your advice
i define small by weight first then thickness and then length and width

I have a Vaio T2XP that can only drive my 2407WFP at 1600x1200 (the wrong aspect ratio). In theory the Intel drivers can be altered (e.g. with the very latest beta version of Powerstrip that can write drivers to support 1920x1200 or any other high resolutions) but it appears that on the T series Sony has disabled higher resolutions in the BIOS so that any changes to the driver do not have any effect. I wasted a lot of time before discovering this.
I too would be very interested in knowing what small Vaio notebooks (or others) can support 1920x1200 and strongly suggest anyone buying one should insist that their next notebook supports this resolution.
If someone could put up a list of notebooks that DO support 1920x1200 either out of the box or with modified drivers this would be very helpful. -
I don't believe any vaio ultraportables have a dvi connection, at least not any I'm aware of. they're vga.

I hooked up my SZ460 via the DVI on the dock to my 2005FPW at 1680xwhatever (forgot). I can even set it to 1920x1200, however, my monitor is not supporting that mode.
So, I think SZ in Speedmode can handle your needs. -
sounds good i was thinking the sz was the smallest i could go
i was hoping that either the vaio g or tz could be "hacked" to get 1920x1200 working on em -- even if it were thru vga -
you might be able to but beware check your temperature
Smallest vaio that can power a dell 2405fpw
