Was this supposed to happen? I only have one laptop from Sony.

Which version are they? Home? Pro? Ultimate? Besides, both discs should be within 1 packaging, not seperately. You may got lucky or something then.

it's not two discs which would be significant, but rather two licenses.

They're 7 Pro, and both discs are in one case. So yeah, two licenses.

Same thing happened to me. Sitting here with two copies. Second one came one day after the first one. Both copies include 32 and 64 bit versions on a single disc. Two licenses also.

Does that mean I get to use the extra one on a separate computer... legally? :D

    YEAHH. Same here.
Now that I look at the disc again, it does say it includes both 32- and 64-bit versions. hmm.

Would it work on other computers? It says it's for use on a Sony laptop only.

Reading these, I am just hoping. Please send me a second disc! The Windows 7 upgrade disc I got from Sony clearly states on the label: "contains 32-bit and 64-bit software ... for use only on a qualifying Sony PC."

I think the install disc has both versions. The question is: Can the second disc be used to install Windows 7 on a 32-bit computer, mine is a Dell desktop? Can't be sure about that.

I think it's normal for you to get 2 discs in 1 package, as stated before, one is 32-bit and the other is 64-bit. I didn't know you'd get 2 licenses too, I read somewhere that if you decided to install, say, the 64-bit and use the license, you won't be able to use the 32-bit, vice versa.

I'm still waiting for my 'free' Windows 7 (still had to pay £20 for the handling & shipping fee) for my Vaio Z. I don't think you can install it on other laptops, but I'm not sure.

Actually, I did get two discs in the package. One was the main upgrade disc (for both 32-bit and 64-bit) and the other is Sony's replacement drivers and software.

The nice thing about the second disc is that you can do a clean install and easily re-install the applications you just blew away. Since my Vaio was very new, that is the way I did it. Worked great.

But I still covet that second upgrade disc. I think most people have actually had two separate shipments. On the positive side, I just got a weird confirmation e-mail about the disc shipping. (heh, heh!)

I see, so that's what Sony's Windows 7 upgrade is. Still waiting on mine to arrive, not that I need it anymore but still nice to have.
