I mean the current design has been out for what, a year and a half now? (maybe longer). Shouldn't there be a redesign coming out in the next few months? Maybe it'll be lighter, have the tz/x505 keyboard, thinner, have a flash hd, maybe hdmi (to compete with the xps) and maybe a 8400gt (or even the 128mb gs). Maybe they'll do it when the penryn processors come out. Just a thought.

SZ6 is just released in europe and japan.

so my guess: we won't see any updates the next 4 months.

    maybe after that.

bytheway, SZ6 is still the lightest notebook on the market considering the specs.

What I think is that the last update to the SZ will be with Montevina. Then a brand new design will be revealed for the launch of the Nehalem platform.

    agree it's a nice design.

but what if sony would make a 13,3 inch TZ... now that would rock!

if sony made a 13.3 tz than it wouldnt be a "T" series. Most likely that'll be the next "S" design.

I dont think its getting old. It looks awesome! They keep improving little things... like the premium carbon fibre, all black, better specs, LED, etc.

Its awesome. I ALMOST bought one. But I really couldnt resist to the TZ..

Guys, don't flatter yourself with TZ-series keyboard. it maybe not suitable for some users.
I have mac book, it has the same keyboard type, and i don't like it. i have been using it almost for 4 months, and i still can't get used to it. it annoys me much.

I don't think the Macbook keyboard is the best, but I like it, and it's much better than the current SZ keyboard.

"To each his own said the farmer as he kissed the ass of the pig." That's an old Dutch saying! :D

I only buy computers with that keyboard. First the Sony TZ, then the Apple iMac and now finally an Apple MacBook...love all iterations, it's the best.

They do seem to update the SZ series a lot. Maybe we'll see another update before the end of the year.

Do you like it even more than the Powerbook / Macbook Pro keyboard? That's my favorite keyboard.

Yes, definitely, and far more than those ThinkPad keyboards everyone seems to like, I think they're awful.

lol yea mine isnt even a year yet. but from then they're already on the 6xx series. i mean are they gonna go an sz-10005 or something, there might be an sz7 referesh with the new 45nm processor, and then after that maybe they'll redesign when the next ones come out i think they're 32nm. then maybe we'll see a w hole new chassis design

You dont know what you are missing. After typing on my SZ and going back to my thinkpad, I feel so much lighter. It is simply perfect. The mbp keyboard might be next but it is still a bit heavy to push down but that lighting is so convenient.

Well you can have it. And I particularly hate that touch-stick, that sticks out like a you-know-what, which always hits my fingernails, producing a feeling akin to dragging them against a blackboard. YMMV. :D

same here. it's a proven design.

my company laptop is a second hand r505 with a similar design, and it still work fine after all these years. that got me into buying a sz483nc for my personal use.

About the current keyboard design of the SZ, I think it's pretty good & Sony should NOT change that into the Mac-like style (like with the latest TZ).

Why ? Look carefully at the designs of both keyboards: it's much easier to clean the SZ's keys than the Mac-styled keys. If the dirt gets trapped inside the Mac's (ie. while being pressed down), there's NO way that it can get out (ie. with a blower), unless you have to disassemble the whole thing. It's a one-way street for dirt in Mac-styled keys in other words.
