I am puzzled by these Sony Vaio models. There are two of them, they got identical specs, but one is twice as large and heavy.

The only things that differ in the specs are screen sizes (obviously) and the harddisk sizes. How can this be possible seeing that the S1XP is half as heavy and almost half as small? Would it be wiser to go with that model?
Surely, the 17" is nice, but one would think you could get better performance in such a hefty laptop when a small ultra-portable computer as the S1XP can pack just as much punch.

The notebooks are just in different classes. One is a multimedia DTR unit, and the other is an ultra-portable unit. The specs can be the same, but you're gonna have to change the case size to fit the 17" LCD.
You're choice to go for a specific model is based on what your needs are. If you're looking for a smaller, more portable unit with a 13.3" LCD, then go that route, but if you're looking for a 17" LCD, then the only choice that Sony offers is a A series.
In the case of computers, larger doesn't mean faster, it just means it's larger.

Alright.
But to me, it sounds quite stupid to buy something that's bigger, heavier and more expensive but just as powerful.
I am just thinking: "where's the catch with the S1XP?". Maybe they've used a different motherboard. -

So small, but as powerful as its bigger brother?
