Isn't there software that can remove bloatware FOR you? Rather than doing the entire clean install? Just wondering...
Like TuneUP utilities 2008 or Advanced system optimizer ... or something like that?
I'm getting my Vaio SR at the end of the month, so just wondering which route i would go. If there's decent software, i would go with that.. cause the bloatware can't be THAT bad (can it?).

Yeah, you can remove the bloatware. But Sony, like all laptop manufacturers, use standard images that they copy to the drive.
Sometimes those images can get boggy and to truly have everything installed properly - you need to do it yourself.
For most people, they don't realize any difference. But we here at NBR are not most ppl and we like our systems to perform top-notch! It's also fun (IMO) to reformat and install what you want, how you want... -
I've just done a clean install of Vista 64 bit on my FW11e, running sweet.

You can manually clean your system, use an app like PCDecrapifier, or do a clean insall. The clean install is usually, for most people, the best option, but doing a thorough cleanup will also do wonders for a machine filled with bloat.
In addition to Decrapifier, you can also uninstall programs with Control Panel. Use msconfig to stop unwanted startup programs, services.msc with BlackViper (or similar guide - this just happens to be my favorite), to stop unwanted services, and then CCleaner or similar program to clean up misc. remnants. Some people would also defrag their machines.
Software vs. clean install
