If these pictures were linked before on this site sorry. But I don't recall seeing these yet.

I ordered a red one.. hopefully the build quality will be good. I am a bit worried it may be not be as thin as light as Sony suggests. Hopefully I will get this next week.

I think blue is a tacky color for a laptop. The red however looks okay. I prefer the black, or white. It's suppose to be thinner then the C series so you should be good.

I can't help but notice that the advertisements are going after females rather than males.

Well I canceled my CR order. Dell just came out with their inspiron 1420 which is very similar. http://www.dell.com/content/products/productdetails.aspx/inspnnb_1420?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs It also has nvidia 8400m gs graphics option. I ordered the dell and for the same price, I got a 160 sata drive instead of the 120 from sony.. Also added blue tooth with blue tooth mouse on the dell.. not even a option on the CR. I stayed with the X3100 intel graphics since I am not a gamer. The dell has a magnesium case which is pretty good at this price point. But the most important thing is the Dell comes in red and has matching sleeve which dell threw in and a THREE year warranty. The Sony only came with 1 year. The sales person chopped off 100 bucks off the web site price. The weight is almost exactly the same as the Sony. After reading some bad things about Sony's customer service and in below average build quality.. I decided to go with Dell. For almost the same exact price I get the same 2.0 GHz santa rosa, 2 gigs ram, bigger HD, 3X more warranty, with added bluetooth and mouse.. not even offered on Sony.. The 1420 has every I/O port that the CR has (except the sony proprietary ones which I don't want) with two headphone jacks.. the CR only has one. The Dell is clearly a much better value for the money then the sony. I must admit that the Sony is nicer looking. But since the Dell offers a nvidia 8400m option for graphics, better warranty, and multiple colors, and bluetooth for around the same cost as the sony.. I think the Dell will do pretty well with this new model. I am clearly unstanding why many say Vaios are overpriced. But Sony still rules on some of their models like th TX and SZ.. those are very small and unique form factor notebooks.

Also I almost forgot to mention.. very important! The 1420 I ordered has UltraSharpTM TFT Display with TrueLifeTM ( 1440x900) The Sony only offers resolution up to 1280x800. That was enough for me to dump the Sony order.

This is some of the specs on the brand new Dell 1420:

Don't know about that... I reordered the 1420 Dell with coupon and got a great price.. The system adds one more year of waranty then I had on the Sony CR, a higher resolution 14.1 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ TL LCD... which the CR does not even offer... a bluetooth enabled with bluetooth mouse which the CR does not offer.. for hundreds less then the CR:
Here is the specs on my 1420 system:
    1 222-9479 Inspiron 1420, Intel Core 2 Duo T7100, 1.8GHz, 800Mhz 2M L2 Cache $1009.02

    1 466-8371 2GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm $0.00
    1 320-5521 14.1 inch Wide Screen WXGA+ TL LCD for Inspiron 1420 $0.00
    1 320-5495 Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 Inspiron 1420 $0.00
    1 466-8376 160G 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive $0.00
1 420-6556 Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, English $0.00
1 430-0493 Integrated 10/100 Network Cardand Modem, for Inspiron $0.00

    1 320-5522 Integrated 2.0 mega pixel web cam $0.00
    1 412-0968 Creative Earbud EP630 $0.00

    1 312-0539 56 WHr 6-cell Lithium Ion Primary Battery, for Inspiron 1420 $0.00

    1 430-2348 Dell Wirless 355 Bluetooth Mod $13.43
    1 430-2315 Dell Bluetooth Travel mouse $30.21
1 466-1830 Thanks for supporting reforestation to offset carbondioxide emissions generated topower your system! $1.34

This same system on the CR today, adding only 2 years antivirus with CR (have three with the 1420) would be much more... And the CR would have a lower res screen and no bluetooth.

    Standard Capacity Lithium-ion Battery (BPS9/S)
    Intel® PRO/Wireless 4965AGN Network Connection (802.11a/b/g/n)
    Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium
Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
    14.1" WXGA with Camera
    SuperMulti (DVD+-R Double layer / DVD+-RW Drive)
    160GB Hard Disk Drive
    2GB PC2-5300 (1GB x 2)
    Intel Core2 Duo Processor T7100 (1.8 GHz)
    No Engraving
    None Movie Pack
    Sangria
    QB Basic
    Norton Internet Security 2007 (2Yr)
    Video Standard
    Music Plus
    Photo Standard
    Microsoft Works
2 Year Onsite Service Plan for Notebooks
    $149.99

For a grand total of $1,589.98 for the CR. Thats 480 dollars more.. Thats quite a bit considering they both share the same internals from Intel with the sony having a downgrade in display and bluetooth. And the sony price does not list sales tax either.. So the price difference would be well over 500 dollars... Maybe some believe that the Sony BRAND warants an additional 32 percent more.. but I don't think so. I'll take my chances with dell.. to bad, I really did like the CR.. And if the CR was priced more in line with the competition, I may have gone with the CR. But the CR is really overpriced for what you get.

Grant you, I still think the CR looks very nice.. I don't think its any better then the 1420. The new inspiron line is getting great reviews and build quality is closer to that of their latitude business line.. The new inspirons are also incased in magnesium. Maybe Dells are not the best made.. but I have sure read alot of bad on Sony build quality and customer support. Maybe some of the Japanese made sonys are still up in quality but the CR is probably not coming from Japan.. I really doubt it.

The other thing that I did not like about the CR was the loose battery.. If you don't latch it properly it can loose connection and kill your connection.. loosing any work you may be doing at the time. This is a design flaw carried over from the C series so its somewhat pathetic that Sony did not correct this.

you guys bought the new dell that "sounds"certainly better but what if I say you can get the Sony Cr (the 1300-1400 not the 1100) for 200 dollars less?
For a week, July 7-14, they had a major sale on it as there laptop product of the week.
