I was looking at the new 2012 e series with IB, I was wondering if the i7 3612qm upgrade is worth the extra $200 compared to the dual core i5 3210m. I will be using the laptop for watching movies light to medium gaming, ms office related stuff. I want to keep the laptop as long as possible so is the 3612qm better for future proofing because future applications will begin to utilize more than two cores? The only options im upgrading are the processor from the base i3 to i5($50) or i7($200) and the graphics card from intel hd 4000 to amd 7670m for $100 .
I priced the e series 14inch at $849 with amd gfx card upgrade and i5 3210m processor. With the 3612qm it comes out to $999.99 before tax.
Or I can get the vaio s13 for $999.99 before tax with sam res screen and i5 3210m plus gt 640m le 1gb, difference is less weight than the e series and one inch smaller screen plus no qc processor. I know this is a lot of info/questions but I would really appreciate some advice as this will be my only everyday use pc-I must make the right decision.Which config is the best value? iyo thanks.
