    Hi
I've brought down my search to these 2. Thinkpad Z61m and Sony FE790. I like the sony's design, plus it has a gefore 7600 compared to x1400 in Z61m. The battery life is about the same. Thinkpad is better build but on graphics the sony beats z61m .

Please state what r the cons of Sony FE790 which i should consider before getting it.

I almost got the FE790, but passed since it used the 128mb G0 7600. Other things I didn't like. DDR2 @ 533 (and you I read cause of the bios you can't upgrade to DDR2 667) and 5400RPM HD.

    I settled for a ASUS W3J ... 14", X1600, DDR 667, 7200RPM Hitachi, good batter life (8 cell w/ 6 cell optical bay battery) from geared2play.

The 128mb GO 7600 is a fine GPU.

And do you really, really need 667...?

Havving DDR2 533 would almost have no impact since the graphics subsystem is not integrated. In this instance the Vaio does have the better graphics card, as well as better overall looks. I would go with the Vaio in this situation.

Other than people complaining about paint on media buttons chipping off a few months back, haven't heard anything negative about the FE series thus far. Yes, it does come with slower 533MHz RAM, but let's face it. Unless you're a multimedia enthusiast, you wouldn't notice the difference anyway.
