is this a good deal? I was gonna get a Z but this seems a pretty good deal.
the only things I am concerned are DDR2, no HDMI output, core 2 which in terms of GH is slower than my current core duo 1.6.
what do you guys think?

The hardrive is probably 4200rpm and yes this machine will be slow unless you install XP.
Does it look like new?
How long is the warranty?

I bought a TZ (a month and half ago), but I returned it. It is slow, the HDD is not a sata drive and at 4700 rpm, so it will be a little slower. I got rid of all the bloatwares, and I find that surfing the web is ok. I used it to run photo post-processing (using GIMP), and it is just a little bit slower than my 3.0GHz single core desktop. Make sure you have U7700 cpu which is dual 1.33 GHz, and also 2 GB ram. The screen is beautiful and very bright that I have to lower the intensity by 2 or 3 bars. The bottom on the left side is very hot on the lap, and I have to place a magazine between it and my lap in order to use it for an extended period of time. This is the main reason I returned it, not because of performance. The other advantage is the small size, which I like very much. I set it to 120 DPI, and if you buy a Logictech BT mouse (V470), you can configure the middle button to zoom so you can make the text smaller or larger at will.
BTW, there is a recall on the TZ because of overheating. Hope that all help with your decision, and Good luck.
Sony - TZ240NB for $1000 used, good deal?
