Had they listen to their customers, they would have been in much better shape. Imagine how much more sales they would have had if they have put High End Video Cards like GeForce 9800M GTX or Radeon Mobility HD 3870.

OR if they would be sellng Z serie for 500$ ? ;)

Sony was never ment to be a pure consumer laptop, actually they only started a few years ago with a cheap N serie version, otherwise all laptops were quite expensive.

I say leave it that way, maybe improve their customer support and lower prices

    That is true.

Generally consoles cost more to make than the selling price...
The cost is then recouped through game sales.

Problem here - the PS3 never quite caught on, wasn't revolutionary enough, too expensive, etcetera making it a less fortunate "business adventure"...
    People didn't buy the games...

    Anybody got any statistics?
(but selling good heaphones cheaper would help too :D (I paid 45 Pound for mine... EX85 ))

I always thought the PS3 was underpriced. Unfortunately the PS3 needed to compete against the Xbox and the Wii and not the more expensive Blu-Ray players. When the PS3 was initially released if you would have combined the cost of buying a Blu-Ray player and the cost of buying a game console it would have cost you $1000 easily. Sony should have release a non-Blu-Ray version of the PS3 for $299 and a Blu-Ray version for at least $699...just my 2 cents. I assume they didn't because of the technical issues behind creating the games in both formats.

The PS3 is partly to blame, Sony has expanded into areas it should not be in, like music & movie production.

Sony also paid huge sums to film studios to get them into blu-ray even thou Sony could not really afford it, in the short term at least.

As for these 'Analysts' they are the last people anyone should take business advice from. They think firing the developers and keeping the sales staff is a good idea, that plus giving all your money to Madoff.

Horrid Launch, Marketing and Price and just making it a very hard to develop for console. Of course there was the WII effect as well.
