Hi, I am shopping for a 13 to 14" laptop with decent video card. This notebook will complement my 17" PowerBook G4. So, huge screen isn't exactly what I look for.

But I really really want to play PC games ... as you can imagine, Mac isn't exactly good for gaming.

Could anyone help? If Sony no such beast, could anyone recommend a 14" laptop with at least a Radeon 9600/9700 128MB RAM? The best Sony offers is Radeon 9200 32MB!!!

The S Series will offer one with a Radeon 9700, but it isn't out yet. Expect it to arrive in few weeks.

    --------------------
    Compaq Presario 2800T
    Pentium 4-M 1.6 GHz - 15" UXGA
    512 MB RAM - 40 GB (5400 rpm)
ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 64 MB
Pretty good for 2002 isn't it?

Most likely. They wouldn't offer something in Europe that wouldn't be offered in North America. Also, the current model lacks a DVD Burner. We all know that all Sony's are equipped with DVD Burners, even the ultraportable TR's. The model with the DVD Burner, better processor, and the MR 9700 will be coming almost certainly. :)

Do you know how much this will cost? $3000 USD???

I don't really need a DVD burner... not sure if Sony can swap it with a DVD-ROM/CD-RW drive.

I just used it to make a point, although the one in Europe had one. In Japan, you can actually customize everything on the computer. I don't know if they'll offer this here.

In UK, it was about 100-150 extra British pounds. That equates to a around $200-300 extra dollars. A very generous deal considering you upgrade the processor, get a DVD burner, and upgrade graphics.

I'd say that it should cost $2300 US dollars on average. The very, very worst it could cost is $2500 on Sony Style. Of course, if you want to keep it cheap, you'd buy elsewhere.

    Thanks... you are most helpful.

One more question, do you know if Sony has a good warranty program? I know Apple does... my iBook fail on me every 6 months... and they have authorized Apple service centers all over the world.
