    Hi there.

I have this power adaptor with my new Z. I guess everyone here has.

It is even larger and havier, than the one for my 2.5 yr/old acer.

The funny thing - is that at this moment - that is the only adaptor "officially" compatible with Z.

    I like this one

But Z is not listed as compatible model there (I assume - because it needa 19.5 (vs 19.0) voltage)

Is there any good option to get a light AC Adptr? (Except those cheap ebay ones)

p.s. It looks common for sony - reemember first SZ's adaptors? It is a bad way 0 sell a crappy heavy adaptors with high enl lightest lappys.

There's 3rd party universal adaptors out there, like from Kensington & others, that are small & light -- the catch is that since the Z just came out, the 3rd party ones might not specifically list compatability with the Z (even though they might be compatible). I'd check the websites of the adaptor vendors, they're probably more up to date than the product packaging, but otherwise you might have to wait a couple of months...

Hmm, it's really odd that the US SonyStyle site you posted a link to shows the UK plug.

Anyway, I hear the SZ and CR adaptors work with the Z1

that's odd that the z adaptor is large... kinda defeats the purpose of having an ultraportable if you have to lug a brick around with you.

Just following the discussion. Very disappointing to learn the power brick is indeed a brick - for such a small laptop?! Ack.

Please let us know if you find anything smaller that works. :)

It is quite strange because the powerbrick on TZ is so small and the one on SZ wasn't big either.

But look at it from the positive side: a bigger powerbrick usually charges your laptop faster.

As long as the Voltage is the same, I don't think there would be any problems. There are many smaller one for other series.

I don't have it handy, but the Z power is about the same size as that of the SZ.

actually, can someone confirm the size...?

"big" can be relative... and i've never seen it in person.

I don't think the adapter that comes with the current Z model is that big. It is 4 3/4" x 2" x 1 1/8" (Approx). What does stink is that it uses a 3 prong power cable and does not have any sort of cable management system other than a piece of velcro.

Adapter you point out (you like) does work with the Sony Z series. I know first hand as I bought one. I later returned it because I found it to be much bigger and bulkier than the one that comes with the unit. This one I found this adapter when put into the carrying case was much more difficult to carry with the z series.
