I just got a Sony V290 laptop. I have not yet utilized the TV tuner features. Has anyone used this with DirecTV before? How straightforward is it? Do you just connect the cable wire from the receiver to the A/V dock?

Please forgive me if my questions are so simple. I am just getting the hang of the product.

Any tips or shared stories using the TV features of the A290 would be helpful.

    Thanks in advance.

I also have the Sony A-290 which I use with Dish Network. The set up is as follows: Use an S-video cable from your Direc TV to the input(top row) of the AV dock You also need to connect the left and right audio outputs (red and white) to the AV dock, also the top row. Then you have to set up the Giga Pocket TV set up. Click Start then All Programs, then Giga Pocket>All Software>TV Set Up. On the Modify TV Set Up you will see the last option which will use the Set Top Box. Click on Video and then finish. When you change the channels on your Direc TV it will automatically change them on the laptop. If you have any further questions e-mail me
