Hi, i'm thinking about buying the Sony AR21M (the one without blu ray... sadly).. i wanted to know what the point was of HD display, if it cant play HD dvds. Also, could someone tell me if there are other laptops out there with HD display.

The HP Pavilion notebooks have hi-def screens. So do Dell XPS notebooks. The Sony AR21 is one of the most costliest 17 inch notebooks available. You should look at other 17 inch models as well.

HD DVDs are not the only way to get HD video output. Unless I'm mistaken, any notebook with WUXGA resolution (1920x1200) is capable of HD display.
