Audio over HDMI connection was working for Windows Media Center. I installed Vista ultimate. I could get the picture, but not audio when I connected my laptop to Sony TV via HDMI. Does anyone know what to set? I could see HDMI checked in Control Pannel --> Hardware and Sound --> Sound Reality Control. But, I did not get the sound. Any clue?

I had this problem as well with an upconverting DVD player and a LCD TV.
What I did was rout the audio through component cables (thus analog) and it was fine.

This is what I heard from the CNET forums - that the HDMI spec is not standardized across all machines, and because of this digital audio suffers from consistency issues. It works on some devices, not others.

Perhaps, Sony must be working to release new drivers. The 64-bit version is in bad shape.
