Is there a reason you don't want to use Vista drivers? Aren't Vista drivers backwards compatible? If not, I think the nearest you are going to get is by using the AR-2XX series Windows XP drivers, as from the AR-3XXs up, they were shipped with Vista.

    Hi,

I've just had the same problem - altho I've installed Windows Server 2003 on an AR51SU (basicly I'm also using XP drivers)

You'll have to gather the 'pieces' from around:

    Nvidia driver:
http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/drivers - get the 165.01 version and custom 'inf' file

    camera:
    Vista driver I think

    chipset:
    used the Vista drivers

    Flash drives:
    Texas-Instuments - FlashMedia Driver 2.0.0.6.zip

    Wireless:
    V11.1.1.0_XP_DRIVERS.zip

    TVcapture:
    Vista drivers

    Sigmatel sound:
found from another laptop - forgot which one, sorry

    Realtek sound:
    from Realtek's site (WDM_R180)

    Pointing:
    Vista driver - Synaptics Touchpad Driver ( 9.1.13.0 )

    Network:
    Marvell Yukon Ethernet Controller - NDIS5.1 Miniport Driver - YK51X86.sys v10.22.7.3

    Flash drive icon:
    Memorystick Icon reg 'fix'

Drivers used from the BX4 laptop:

    CODMOD-12767900-US (modem 7.62.00.00)
    TIDMSC-01549400-UN (flash 2.0.0.18)

(yes, I installed both Flash driver sets - might only be needed with the 2.0.0.6 version, but I started with the 2.0.0.18 and that didn't ID both in device manager)
    ---

the order / process I used were ('internal comments' - for myself):

    network (have disk)
    gfx install
    modem - install (bx driver)
flash storage - install ( texas driver ) + bx driver (have disk) for flash mem. devices)
    memory stick icon
    wireless (network controller) (have disk)
    intel chipset - install
    camera (install.bat)
    tvcapture (multimedia controller) (have disk)
    audio sigma - install
    audio realtek - install (R1.80)
    mouse - install
    touchpad - install

(have disk) - means right click the unidentified device and select 'update driver' and point it to the location of the driver - and letting it install in that manner. 'install' means run the installer.

Then I did the Windows update:
    windows update - IE7, driver
    windows update - rest

Then I installed these 'utils' from the BX4 XP Utility package to get volumne and mute to work:

    utils:

    sony shared library - bx
    sony shared dll - bx
    vaio event service - bx

    ----

I have 2 unidentified devices - one is the IR (eHome infrared), I'm not certain about the other one.

I haven't spent time testing/getting the rest working (S1 / S2, eject - and the multimedia controls - and Fn shortcuts) - but if you or others get them working or know how then I'd love to hear what is required

-actually SebHoll's suggestion about the AR-2xx drivers looks very good!
