    Hi,

Are there any guides or videos out there for taking apart a Sony AW's power jack and replacing it?

I have a spare part here and i couldn't for the life of me figure out how to take apart the power assembly after i had taken the back off the laptop, there was only one screw and that didn't seem to make any difference!

The problem is the power plug/pin is just spinning in the socket now so it needs replacing, i have a part now i just need to know how to go about it!

Is there an online Sony AW service manual or has anyone done this?

    Thanks

ryan, i have the same problem myself on the vgn-aw110j, the inside of the dc-in jack is missing and in place there's now 2 metal pins. it still works when i plug in my ac adapter but its very loose, its bearable unless i move the laptop around.

Yep, same here, so cuts out if i move it even slightly, or i fail to notice it's not charging the battery etc, really frustrating! I've got the spare part but just have no idea how to open up the jack casing to get to it!

I'm joining You guys, I tried taking off the screen hinges to have a look where it gets stuck but no luck on that. It seems to be stuck somewhere where the grey plastic goes in but I have no idea how to remove the cover for it. If someone figures it out please post it here as I'm not too happy to pay £60 for simple operation :)
