I just bought a new Sony AW190 with 640GB worth of hard drive capacity. It arrived with Vista showing a single 586GB drive instead of two drives, a C and a D drive.

Is there any way to break-up the RAID array from within Windows? I know I'll have to back-up all my data and re-install Vista from the recovery DVDs, but I really do NOT want a RAID0 array in my laptop after one too many bad experiences with a RAID0 array going bad on me and costing me a complete reformat and reinstall.

what makes you think it has a raid array?

    If you orded the 640gb option, it's a single drive (according to w w w .sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SYCTOProcess?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&LBomId=8198552921665524751).

if vista is only showing 586, it's cause sony uses a hidden partition for it's recovery partition.

I just figured that there's no such thing as a 640GB 7200RPM hard drive since there isn't even a 500GB 7200RPM drive around. It sounded like it had to be two 320GB 7200 drives in a RAID array.
