Pretty good deal, especially considering the 256MB X-700 card. Can now call it a gaming and multimedia laptop. I was considering an Asus V6va but now you can get a better and more powerful laptop for the same, if not less cost.

Has anyone ordered the BX with the 256MB X700? I never liked the older vaio as i thought they were flimsy looking and not much power to offer, but the BX seems to be the one to get. Solid build, good security and powerful GPU.

Aren't Sony notebooks basically Asus notebooks? I see a lot of similarities in their exterior designs, and from what I understand Asus builds Sony notebooks ... ?

yes device, asus does make some sony laptops as well as apple. Thats why i was looking at the asus laptops but they dont have anything currently that would be equal to the 17" Sony notebook. The W2 comes closest and thats about $2500. I can configure the 17" Sony with WXGA screen (XBRITE), 1.73 Pentium M, 256MB X700, 40GB 5400rpm HD for around $1600. I can add more RAM and bigger HD later and i also will install the XP PRO since i already own that.

Wow - $1600 does sound like a nice deal for that setup :) and I have to admit the BX is a very nice looking notebook :)
