Hi everyone,
I just bought a CR vaio from sonystyle and i configured the proccessor on 2.4ghz speed, i have read in the review posted here that 1.8ghz remains cool and quiet yet with higher speed it will go much hotter, did anyone experience that ?
Shal i return the 2.4ghz and maybe go for 2.0ghz that would remain cooler ?
Thanks

The 2.4GHz will get hotter than the 1.8GHz, but it all depends on what CPU you have?
I have a T7500 in my SZ running at the stock 2.2GHz, and it remains very cool! I can only imagine that the 2.4GHz T7700 will only be about 4C or 5C hotter (if that), but no more!
I would just stick with the 2.4GHz one mate! But watch out if its an AMD! My mum has one (the AMD Turion 64 X2 Mobile, 1.8GHz) in her HP Pavilion dv6000 notebook, and that gets hotter than my Core2Duo T7500, 2.2GHz! Even tho her PC is larger (more space for air to circulate), and doesn't get used as intensively as mine! -
Thanks H3rman, u've been good help , it is a core 2 duo same as yours but the T7700.... i guess i will stick to the faster proccessor, would you think 2.2ghz to 2.4ghz worth an additional 150$ ?

You could always underclock the 2.4 processor to a lower speed to lower the temperature and power consumption.

I had the choice to spend an extra £200 and get a 2.4GHz T7700 instead of my T7500, and a 200GB Hybrid HDD instead of the 160GB Hybrid HDD that I have, and I decided not to because I have an external 250GB HDD, so an extra 40GB means nothing to me, and 200MHz is in NO WAY worth £200!!
Ask yourself this, would you spend $150 on a 200MHz CPU (and I mean JUST the CPU)?
Esp seeing as you can buy a new T7700 for about that kind of money (around £206 in the UK from Amazon, but around $350 in the US from Amazon!), and you can then sell the T7500 or keep it as a spare....
However, seeing as a T7700 is $350 in the US, $150 doesn't seem too bad, but over here in the UK about £50 of my money would go to the extra HDD space, and the extra £150 would go towards the CPU, and considering a new T7700 is £200 over here (and prices will drop in time), I thought there was no real point!
As I say, I dont think its really worth it over the 2.2GHz, but its a bit of a tougher choice for you, cos compared to buying it yourself and fitting it, it is A LOT cheaper! Where as for me, it's about the same price, and I could also sell my old T7500 and get some money back, hence buying one with a T7700 built in is a rip off in the UK!
I know this post is a bit all over the place, but after a bit of thinking, I would actually say you should go for the 2.4GHz CPU! Cos the T7700 wont drop to $150 for a while!
But if anyone from the UK reads this post, dont buy the T7700 built in...buy it seperate, and sell your old CPU to make some money back (will end up costing less than it would to get a T7700 built in).
